Effect reference

All fifty effects with their parameters.

Every effect in the catalog — 50 in all, in five families: Color (7), Blur (4), Distort (18), Stylize (15), Light (6). This is the same list the + Effect picker shows; hover a card there and the tooltip reads name — family. How to add, order and animate them is in The effect stack; where an effect can live is in Effects on a layer vs the Effect Layer. Full parameter tables live on those family pages.

Basic parameters are always visible in the effect's entry. Advanced ones sit behind the entry's more toggle; the count is given so you know what is folded away. Thirty effects carry an advanced Mix (how much of the result is shown) — it is included in the advanced count. Parameters named Speed run on the effect clock, so the effect moves even without keyframes.

The + Effect picker: a search field and preview cards grouped by family

01Color

EffectFamilyWhat it doesBasic parametersAdvanced
Color gradeColorExposure, brightness, contrast and saturation in one passExposure, Brightness, Contrast, Saturation1
Hue / saturationColorShifts the hue wheel, saturates or lightensHue, Saturation, Lightness1
LevelsColorRemaps the black and white points with a gamma curveIn black, In white, Gamma3
CurvesColorLifts or crushes shadows, midtones and highlights separatelyShadows, Midtones, Highlights, Contrast1
Gradient mapColorReplaces the tones with a three-stop color rampShadow, Mid, Highlight3
ColoramaColorCycles a palette through the image over timePalette, Phase, Speed1
SharpenColorSharpens edgesAmount, Radius1

02Blur

EffectFamilyWhat it doesBasic parametersAdvanced
Box blurBlurA plain, even blurRadius0
Directional blurBlurMotion blur along one angleAngle, Distance1
Radial blurBlurSpin or zoom blur around a centerMode, Amount4
Depth of fieldBlurSharp inside a focus radius, blurred outside, with a soft edgeFocus radius, Blur, Feather3

03Distort

EffectFamilyWhat it doesBasic parametersAdvanced
Wave warpDistortBends the image along a moving waveWave type, Propagation, Height, Width, Angle, Speed5
Page curlDistortPeels the image back like a pageProgress, Angle, Curl radius1
Mouse fieldDistortThe pointer pushes, pulls or twists the pixels around itMode, Strength, Radius1
Chromatic aberrationDistortSplits the color channels apartAmount0
Lens distortionDistortBarrel or pincushion lens curvature with color fringingBarrel, Zoom, Chromatic3
KaleidoscopeDistortMirrors the image into repeated wedgesSides, Angle2
MirrorDistortReflects one half onto the otherAxis, Center, Invert0
UV warpDistortWarps the image space — twirl, shear, pushMode, Strength, Radius, Twirl, Shear X, Shear Y2
Turbulent displaceDistortDisplaces pixels with animated noiseAmount, Size, Speed1
Ripple shockDistortRings that spread from the center and fadeAmplitude, Frequency, Decay, Speed3
Heat mirageDistortRising heat shimmer in horizontal rowsAmount, Rows, Speed3
Zigzag shearDistortShears alternating bands in opposite directionsBands, Depth, Angle, Speed1
Pixel stretchDistortSmears one line of pixels across the imageOrientation, Source, Stretch0
Tile scrollDistortTiles the image and scrolls the tilesScale X, Scale Y, Dir X, Dir Y, Speed1
IsometricDistortRotates and squashes the image into an isometric viewRotation, Y scale, Zoom3
Feedback tunnelDistortFeeds the image back into itself as a receding tunnelMargin, Inward1
Cylinder wrapDistortWraps the image around a cylinderAmount, Curve, Axis, Scale, Rotate1
Perspective 3DDistortRotates the image as a card in 3D spaceRotate X°, Rotate Y°, Rotate Z°, Distance, Depth, Zoom, Backface0
In UV warp the Strength, Twirl and Shear parameters appear only for the modes that use them; in Wave warp the Angle appears only for the wave types that have a direction.

Radial wipeLightReveals the image clockwise around the centerProgress, Softness2
Lens flareLightA sun with streaks and ghostsIntensity, Color, Sun X, Sun Y8
Glass reads what is behind the layer, so it needs something under it to refract. Mouse field follows the pointer over the canvas — move the mouse across the layer to see it work.
