Words the interface uses, in the sense the rest of this guide means them.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Anim | The 0→1 clock for text-unit animation (letter / word / line). |
| Artboard | A frame of a fixed size that holds layers. Preview and export use one artboard. |
| Badge | The diamond next to a property: dim = you, yellow ◆ = keyframes, purple ∿ = a stream, ● green = exposed, ⚠ = something else is also writing this value. |
| Bake stamp | On a 3D Projector: writes the live frustum onto each receiver so the picture stays after you move the light. Lights & environment. |
| Boolean | Union, subtract, intersect or exclude on selected shapes — one new path. |
| Cascade | A staggered entrance on a group's children. |
| Clones | Copies of a 3D mesh in a grid, ring or spiral, without extra layers. |
| Component | A master artboard you instance. Instances stay linked until you override a value. |
| Desktop player | An exe that plays a .omni with no editor. Roadmap. |
| Data Repeater | Copies of a layer filled from rows — a list, JSON, or a URL. |
| Deform | The section that binds a path or mesh to bones. |
| Changed | The Properties filter that shows only the sections that differ from their defaults. |
| Effect Layer | A layer with no picture of its own; it processes everything drawn beneath it. Shift+E. |
| Effect stack | The list of effect cards on a layer, top to bottom. |
| Expose | ● on a property badge — publishes that value under a name (card.opacity). Stream pickers list it under Exposed. The Controller can fire those names. |
| Face camera | Mesh Transform: Off / Upright / Full. Keeps the object's +Z toward the camera every frame. On clones, each copy faces the camera and Orient is ignored. |
| Field | Two meanings: (1) a native control the visitor types into or picks from — + Add › Input, Choice, Slider, Toggle (Fields). (2) A 3D deformer around the cursor that pushes, pulls or twists a mesh (+ Add › Field). |
| List | A named table of rows under Variables → Lists — typed, fetched from a URL, or pushed by the page. Rules and expressions call it a Data source. A Repeater prints a list; it is not the list. |
| View | A named slice of a list — filter, sort, limit, or a total such as sum:price. Read as view:Name; the ✦ Assistant makes them. |
| Fit | How an artboard meets the window when played: Fluid (becomes the window), Fixed stage (scaled to fit), Fill (covers and crops). |
| Flag | A named moment on a sequence. Rules can jump to it. |
| Focus mode | Double-click a 3D scene to work inside it; Esc leaves. |
| Halo | Properties floating next to the selection on the canvas. Tab. |
| Audio | The top-bar popover for timeline music and the microphone. |
| Keyframe | A value at a time on a sequence. |
| Layer | Anything in the tree: a shape, text, image, group, artboard, 3D mesh… |
| Mask | Another layer used as a matte to clip this one. Luma or Alpha, optional Hide Source. |
| Master | An artboard turned into a component source. |
| Moment | ⚡ — a rule that fires once when something happens. |
| Motion Pose | Two snapshots of a layer, From and To, tweened by a sentence. |
| .omni | A project file: scene plus imported assets, gzipped. For another machine. |
| Page playhead | An artboard's own 0→1 clock and length. Its subtree is sampled at that time. ∿ Own playhead in the Scene group. |
| Persist | An option on a variable or list (its type icon or ···). The player restores the value after a refresh; the file keeps the design value. |
| Play mode | The artboard runs live on the canvas. Esc leaves. |
| Player | The editor-less page Preview opens. |
| Project | One scene stored in this browser. Ctrl+S writes it here. |
| Projector | A 3D light that stamps an image onto mesh faces in its frustum — not illumination. Lights. |
| Properties | The right-rail panel of the selected layer's values. |
| Recipe | A named sentence with one or two knobs — Lift on hover, Reveal on scroll. |
| Route | An artboard Address (slug). The player opens ?p=shop. Not a Screen (Screens are phone / desktop). |
| Responsive | A layer's rule for when its parent resizes: pin to an edge, keep center, stretch, or scale — with size limits. See Responsive & Screens. |
| Runtime | The code that plays a scene on a page, without the editor. |
| Smart animate | A Go to Artboard transition: layers with the same name on both artboards glide into their new place, size and colour; the rest fade. Moving between artboards. |
| Scene rule | A sentence that belongs to no layer — keyboard, signals, variables, timecode. Lives under Scene in Whole scene. |
| Screen | A named window condition — Phone: width ≤ 600 or portrait — with its own overrides on top of the Desktop design. |
| Scroll Participation | How a layer takes its parent's scroll: Factor (parallax / sticky) and hold (pin for a section). |
| Section | A named stretch of an artboard's scroll, 0→1, that can hold layers still. |
| Sentence | One interaction: when this, then that. Lives in the Sentences tab. |
| Sequence | A named timeline of keyframes. A scene can have several. |
| Sequence driver | A 0→1 stream that scrubs a sequence's playhead. ∿ Drive in the Scene group. ⇥ claims the playhead in that sequence's range. |
| Signal | A named ping. Emit Signal / On Signal, including audio beat. |
| Snap | On the scroll rail, a catch zone that settles the wheel to a point. On an artboard's Scroll section, a pixel step for the wheel. |
| Spawn | A sentence step that copies a template layer into the scene. Destroy removes one; $lastSpawn is the copy this rule just made. |
| Stamp | The picture a 3D Projector writes onto meshes — live in the frustum, or baked onto a face. |
| Stream | ∿ — a number that updates every frame (scroll, mouse, audio…). |
| Take | Not used. The timeline unit is a sequence. |
| Transform chain | Stages a stream passes through on the way to a property (map, smooth, spring…). |
| Variable | A named scene value — Number, Text, Toggle or Color — under Variables → Values. |
| Virtual Repeat | Copies of one 2D layer by count — linear, grid or radial — without extra layers. |
| WhenDo | Not shown. The interface says Sentences. |
