Export at the right end of the top bar opens one menu for every way a scene leaves the editor: a project file you can open in OmniMotion on another machine, a still image (PNG or SVG), a video of the timeline and a video of the Storyboard. Downloads are named after your project. Hover an item for a one-line description.

01Project file (.omni)
Export → Project file (.omni) is how a scene leaves this browser: one gzipped file with the scene and every imported asset. Bring it back with Import file… in the top bar or on the Projects screen, drop it on the hub, drop it on OmniPlayer, or host it for embed. See Saving, autosave & recovery. A packaged desktop OmniPlayer is a separate path — Roadmap.
Ctrl+S does not do this. Save writes the project in this browser only.
02Still images — PNG and SVG
A still exports the layer you have selected — a button, a card, a whole page. With nothing selected, it exports the page (the first page in the scene if you haven't picked one). Shadows and blur that spill past the layer's box are included, so nothing is cut off at the edge.
The image is the layer exactly as the canvas draws it at the current playhead: effects, 3D, text, everything. Editor chrome (selection, grid, rulers, guides, layout grids) is never included.
PNG image
Three sizes, straight from the menu:
| Item | Size |
|---|---|
| PNG image · 1x | The layer's own size — a 320×200 card becomes 320×200 px |
| PNG image · 2x | Double resolution, for sharp screens |
| PNG image · 3x | Triple resolution |
The toast names what was exported: Exported Card as PNG (2x).
SVG vector
Export → SVG vector writes the same layer as scalable vector markup — shapes, paths, strokes, gradients, clipping, blur, shadows and blend modes, and text (one text element per line).
Copy as PNG or SVG
To drop a layer into a chat, a document or another design tool without a file, right-click it → Copy / Paste as ▸ → Copy as PNG (at 2x, shadows included) or Copy as SVG (vector markup, ready to paste into code). Works on one layer at a time.
03Video (WebM)
Export → Video (WebM) records the active sequence from start to end and downloads it as project-name.webm. It frames the artboard you have selected; if you selected a layer, the artboard or frame that contains it; otherwise the first page.
- Length is the duration of the sequence you are editing — set it in the timeline before you export. Anything shorter than a second records as one second.
- Frame rate is 30 frames per second.
- Recording happens in real time. A ten-second sequence takes ten seconds to record. While it runs, the Export button reads Recording 42%, and a task row in the timeline shows the same progress with the time remaining.

A browser that can't record video says so — Video export is not supported in this browser — rather than producing an empty file. With nothing to frame, the tool says Nothing to export — add an artboard or select a layer.
What the video contains
The recording is the sequence playing on the clock: keyframes, effects, expressions and streams that come from time. It is not a screen capture, so nothing from the editor leaks in — but nothing from you does either. Hovers and clicks don't happen during a recording; if a behavior only exists as an interaction, keyframe it on a sequence first, or use the player instead.
WebM and other formats
WebM plays in every current browser and in most video tools. If a destination insists on MP4, convert the file with a video tool after export.
04Storyboard video
Export → Storyboard video… records the ✦ Storyboard row as one clip. Pick a format: Landscape 16:9 (1920×1080), Vertical 9:16 (1080×1920), Square 1:1 (1080×1080) or Portrait 4:5 (1080×1350). It records in real time like the timeline video, and it is dimmed until the Storyboard has frames. See Shots and Storyboard.
