Lists and views

One list, many slices — table rows, named views, search, and totals without a second list.

A list is a named table of data. A view is a named slice of that list. A Repeater prints cards from a list. None of these is a variable — variables stay number, text, toggle and colour.

01One list, several faces

Products ── Featured (featured equals true) ── a Choice dropdown
         ── All ── Repeater
         ── sum:price ── a headline

Open the Variables tab and switch it to Lists. Each list shows its items one under another: + Item adds a row, + Field adds a column, the trash icon deletes a row, and Ctrl+Z brings it back. A list fed from a URL or by the embedding page shows the same items, read-only. How to make one is on Data sources.

··· → Persist keeps the list in the player after a refresh (a cart). The file still stores the design rows, not the visitor's cart.

02Views

A view has a name (Featured) and up to four parts:

PieceMeaning
PathWhere the array sits (items). Empty = the list itself
FilterField, op (equals, contains, greater…), value. {$q} reads a variable — bind a Field to q
Sort / LimitOrder and cap
Totalcount, sum, average, min, max on a field

The Variables tab does not have a view editor. Ask the ✦ Assistant for one — "add a Featured view on Products: featured is true, sorted by price, first eight" — and it is saved on the list.

Once a view exists, read it by its path, view:Featured:

  • A Choice field's Path — view:Featured fills the dropdown from the slice (Fields).
  • Expressions — data('Products','view:Featured','length').
  • A total without a named view — data('Cart','sum:price').

A click on a card still sees that row (clicked.*). Adding it to a cart writes the same object, not a copy of the filter.
